I was reading in Luke 8 today and came across the parable of the sower of who sowed seeds. You remember the story -- the sower sowed seeds but not all of them produced. In fact, most of the seeds the sower sowed didn't produce! That is a reminder to me that in life sometimes we have to get past many failures and disappointments to see the good things that God is and has been doing through us. Keep sowing! No matter the evidence today, keep sowing!
seeds lie dormant for many years sometimes. some will sprout and bear fruit years after being scattered or planted, so it is with the seeds of faith we must plant where ever we go, for who knows when the small sprout will appear and a new faith will grow.
ReplyDeleteI think this week that story really hits home for me as a very good man who has been sowing seeds in Haiti died Sunday evening and I wonder who is going to sow the seeds now and who is going to nurture them.
ReplyDeleteI read something by Anne Lamott today that says "expectations are resentments under construction"...obviously we have expectations as we sow, but naming them beforehand can help prevent bitterness that later comes down the road.
